World Clock — Current Time in All Time Zones

This free world clock shows the current time in your local timezone alongside the most important international time zones: UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), EST/EDT (US Eastern Time), and IST (Indian Standard Time). The clock updates every second in real time.

Understanding Time Zones

  • UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) — the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks. It does not observe daylight saving time.
  • GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) — same as UTC+0. Used as the reference for UK standard time (outside British Summer Time).
  • EST (Eastern Standard Time) — UTC−5, used by the US East Coast (New York, Washington D.C.). During summer, clocks shift to EDT (UTC−4).
  • IST (Indian Standard Time) — UTC+5:30. Used across all of India. India does not observe daylight saving time.

What is UTC?

UTC is the modern successor to GMT and is used as the global standard for time synchronization. Servers, APIs, databases, and logs typically store timestamps in UTC to avoid timezone confusion. When working across international teams, always communicate meeting times in UTC.

Daylight Saving Time (DST)

Many countries observe Daylight Saving Time, advancing clocks by 1 hour in summer. The US shifts from EST (UTC−5) to EDT (UTC−4) in March; Europe shifts from CET (UTC+1) to CEST (UTC+2). Countries near the equator like India, Japan, and China do not observe DST.
